Fontainebleau Bouldering

Fontainebleau Bouldering

The Forest of Fontainebleau is a mecca for boulderers from all over the world. Only 90km south of Paris, this well known bouldering area impresses everyone with its beauty, charm and variety of boulders. The bouldering quality is world class. The Fontainebleau bouldering suits all styles, abilities and experience levels. So it has everything from small boulders to let the children explore in complete safety to all the slabs, aretes, overhangs and mantels that you could wish for of every grade. Another amazing feature of the bouldering in Fontainebleau is that there are so many areas in such a small area. You can go here year after year and never climb the same problem twice.

When booking a 'Guiding Only Bouldering Trip' to Fontainebleau with Rock & Sun, you will go to several different bouldering areas so you get a proper feel of the variety of boulder problems the forest has to offer. Meanwhile she help you with all aspects of bouldering - from safety through to technique, movement and overall performance.

There will also be plenty of time to get some expert instruction to help with general climbing techniques, increase confidence and any other areas of your climbing which you may want to fine-tune. Whatever your strengths, weaknesses or experience, there will be a lot to gain from this bouldering trip. Finally, the forest is a great place to bring the family too.

Weather & Climate in Fontainebleau

The best time of year to go bouldering in Fontainebleau can vary depending on what you like. In the winter months the weather gives good friction but chances are that it will rain when you're there. In the summer there is little chance of rain but the friction on the harder problems isn't as good. Spring and Autumn is the when the majority of climbers go to Font. It is a balancing act - just like the locals will tell you about the climbing!!
