I thoroughly enjoyed the week of coaching
Sergi was outstanding. His approaching to teaching was excellent. He was open both to asking us what we wanted to achieve and included both myself and Paul in the planning at every step.
His planning was really good and helped us both to achieve our goals and pushed us forward.
I really enjoyed the lessons on movement. To me it was like learning a protocol to follow in specific situations. I’m sure others think of it in different ways but for my engineering brain it made sense to think of it as such.
Further praise to Sergi is the fact that he was able to not only explain complex ideas clearly, but also demonstrate them, and most importantly ensure that we understood what was mean by seeking feedback at each stage. The morning video sessions were really useful.
I have been on several guided experiences and on most of them I have been made to distinctly feel like a client being taken out. With Rock and Sun this was not the case. I felt like a friend climbing with a more experienced climber out at the crag while also feeling safe and well coached.
My only recommended feedback that I can suggest would be to include the taxi driver instructions in Spanish (perhaps I was just really unlucky), and to include a house number 11 on the end of the drive as by the time I arrived it was dark and next to impossible to find the villa. (added by Rock & Sun: thanks for these recommendations, we have now got spanish driving instructions as well as a house number by the road)
Also for some reason it was really tricky to get onto the wifi. I don’t think TK link thing was working. But who needs wifi with views like that. Having the bikes were excellent! It was fantastic to meet both of you (Dees and Trevor) on the last day as well. Both you guys are really cool and I have a lot of respect for the work your are doing in the climbing community. A real legacy that will benefit hundreds if not thousands of people over the coming decades.
I cannot recommend Rock and Sun highly enough. All of the information provided was outstanding and the accommodation was excellent. I would also like to thank you for the continuous contact and support throughout the whole process and even putting up with my annoying different email addresses :) Ultimately it helped me really learning something new about outdoor climbing and to achieve a personal goal of climbing in Europe for the first time. So thank you very much! I am already considering the next trip :D
I wish you all the best and continued success. I think if you keep doing what you have been doing you will have no problem :D
