Easy to go through the booking stage with Kiera. All information was sent promptly and easy to understand up until the handover to Trev and Dees. They are absolutely fantastic and their knowledge is valuable beyond words. They picked the best climbs for the abilities of the climbers as well as making sure the climb where in the best conditions (out of direct sun etc) They are great fun and relaxed and make you feel like family. I wouldn’t choose anyone else apart from Rock and Sun.
I had a few days private coaching from Trevor on Kalymnos. It was exceptional. I’ve been climbing for many years but still learned a great deal from Trevor, particularly about movement, route-finding (yes, on sport climbs!) and red-point techniques. Trevor is a great person to hang out with and clearly a deep and original thinker about our sport. He also carried the 90m rope, which was a plus. For anyone who hasn’t climbed much, or is worried about it, Trevor places huge emphasis on safety, without compromising the essential exciting nature of climbing. Probably the safest person I’ve ever climbed with. Overall: a fantastic experience and one I will learn from.
…that I could have asked for. Trevor and Des perfectly balanced safety oversight and climbing guidance with giving us freedom to try things. Everything was very well explained, their guidance will make me a better and safer climber when I go on my own trips one day. (Kalymnos Climbing Holiday)
It speaks volumes that on my second trip to Costa Blanca with Rock & Sun, all seven of us were repeat bookings, and each of us had climbed with at least one other member of the group on previous trips. As before, the coaching went at my pace, giving me time to learn through effective drills and lots of practice at a different crag every day. The atmosphere is supportive, motivating and fun – perfect for the solo traveller.
I’m not sure where to start. So just to pick up on the more outstanding elements: 1. Systematic approach on how to make your climb, both safer and easier. So you can up your climbing grade within a short time, by following this approach.
2. The volume of climbing that you get to do. Trevor and Desiree know the routes so intimately ( they have bolted alot of them), They structure the day in a thoughtful way so that everyone gets a chance to climb alot (if you want to). And they keep an eye on you pretty constantly and provide regular quality feedback. The hosts have eyes on the back of their heads;)
3. The genuine care, attention and craic from Desiree and Trevor. The care and attention just doesnt stop at the crag. There are evenings with the hosts and fab fellow participants – dinner in fantastic restaurants, poker games, lots of chat, BBQ, music, belly laughs. But if you want to loll by the pool with your book, have an early night, you can do that too. It is truly a Rock and Sun family vibe:)
Couldnt imagine you cd get a more professional, skilled, interested outfit where your base is a beautiful villa with a pool, at such a competitive price.
… and learned a lot from the coaching. I’ve added a number of skills and tools to my toolbox to keep refining my climbing. Great bunch of people — Des and Trev were awesome, very knowledgeable and patient. Overall, great week!
…at a climbing coaching course. A warm and welcoming atmosphere, long days at the rock, good drills and a very thoughtful program, explained very good.
This was my 2nd trip with Rock and Sun. This trip was to enhance my skills and techniques, and overcome some of my fears and hesitations when climbing outdoors. It 100% met and exceeded my expectations. The small group of 6 participants was very focused and supportive. Trev and Des were excellent coaches. They took the time to address my individual needs and skills and encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone and helped me feel confident in my climbs. The villa is absolutely lovely and a very good place to come back to after a long day of climbing. The crags were beautiful and easily accessible, and the climbs were varied for the skill set of the group. I’m looking forward to my next Rock and Sun adventure.
I learned so much and both Trev and Dees are so friendly and welcoming. They are both great coaches and I will definitely be back for another trip.
