In the past, UK’s top female climber Hazel Findlay taught us how to deal with fear when climbing above your gear. And Tim Emmett shared his positive vibes and his knowledge on climbing technique last winter in Thailand. For those who missed the opportunity to learn from and climb with Tim, he will be joining us again! In October he will run a Outdoor Climbing Coaching alongside our excellent climbing guide Sergio Pastor Serra. And in December/January he will join Trevor Massiah and Desiree Verbeek again in Thailand for some more great climbing adventures!

Who Is Tim Emmet

Tim Emmett is a professional climber, extreme athlete, TV presenter and climbing coach who has appeared on numerous BBC programmes. The most well-known television gig he did must be when him and Leo Houlding and Tim Emmett raced Jeremy Clarkson up the Verdon Gorge (France), and back down again in Top Gear – BBC.

In October 2015 Tim won the Redbull Whitecliffs climbing competition on the Isle of White, and in February 2016 he climbed Interstellar Spice, the first ice climb graded WI 12 at Helmcken Falls, Canada – perhaps the most famous ice climbing in the world. Tim has also established some of the hardest rock climbs in Cuba, Mongolia and Wales.

An author, speaker and former wingsuit B.A.S.E. jumper, he works closely with the Mountain Hardwear design team and continues to push the boundaries of physical and mental performance.

On his first Himalayan trip in 2006 with Ian Parnell, Tim climbed a new route on the East Face on Kedar Dome (6840M) free, in Super Alpine style, and was nominated for the Piolet D’Or (climbing’s equivalent to the Oscar’s). Tim achieved podium position four times at the World Ice Climbing Championships and has climbed both the hardest Sport climb and Deep Water Solo in the Caribbean. In 2010 Tim made the first ascent ofMuy Caliente – the first E10 in Wales.

Tim enjoys many other sports including ski-ing, snow boarding, free diving, skeleton, bobsleigh, kite boarding, mountain biking and heli boarding and is the Patron of the Charity “Breathtakers”. He graduated in Marine Zoology and encourages people to join his quest for Cellular Health and Dietary Excellence.

“I’m planning to be in Spain this autumn to see if I can take my own rock climbing to a new level and climb a 9a! While I’m there I’ll be joining the Rock and Sun team to offer a unique one week Outdoor Climbing Coaching for anyone looking to improve their climbing outside. The week is especially designed for people that spend most of their time climbing indoors and want to improve their grade outdoors. Focus will be on technique, movement and flow, and the goal is to have an energising and refreshing holiday. In my opinion understanding and learning the most efficient way to get through tricky sequences is the smartest way to improve your climbing.

You will be staying in a beautiful, fully equipped and spacious villa with swimming pool.

We offer one free transfer from Alicante Airport to your accommodation (for flights landing at Alicante Airport at 14.30pm latest).

On departure day (the end date of your holiday – normally a Saturday) we offer one free transfer to Alicante Airport (for flights that depart from Alicante Airport after 12pm).

I’m teaming up with Trevor Eugene Massiah and Rock and Sun as the guest coach on two trips. Thailand is my favourite place in the world, I love it so much I’ve been there 5 times, and even met Katie my wife there too. I’m not promising you’ll meet your future spouse but I can guarantee a trip you’ll remember forever. We will be visiting the infamous Tonsai and Railay beach for a day but most of the trip with be at a new location near Ao Nang and also the ultimate island getaway – Lao Liang. I went diving off Lao Liang on Christmas day a few years ago and saw two huge Manta Rays. The island itself is pristine and surrounded by crystal clear turquoise water, often teaming with fish and the climbing and DWS there is fun too. There are kayaks and the snorkelling is also superb, and you DON’T need to wear a wetsuit.” Tim Emmett.
