Area description:
Thailand climbing is like no other place, it’s in a league of its own. The beauty of Railey and Ton Sai in particular is breathtaking. To be able to complete another amazing route, then turn around and gaze upon
another angle of the forest, beaches, cliffs and ocean, is an indescribable, unique feeling. It helps to put climbing in
it’s element as there are no other worries. Life is so simple. It brings you back to
nature, living in the jungle, eating exotic food and climbing like the monkeys that
wake you up in the morning.
The limestone towers alone have made Krabi a now famous climbing venue, but it’s also the
locals, the weather, the food and the style of living which keep people coming
back. Thailand is not only a fantastic place to come for a climbing holiday but there are many other activities to entertain you on your rest days. The Thai
culture and the harmony in which they live, should be explored by all. They are welcoming people whose only wish is to make sure everyone’s happy.
You cannot prepare yourself for your first few days in Railey, most people are
blown away by the atmosphere given off by the beauty of this tropical climbing
Mecca. Then for climbers it’s also a huge bolted playground, more than a
lifetimes worth of stalactites, crimps and jugs, above water or sand. After the
climbing you relax on the beach getting a tan or rehearse your next route,
maybe take a boat out to some of the local islands for lunch on the beach, party in a local bar until sunrise or relax in the starlight listening to the tide coming in.
There is something for everyone, no matter who you are everyone wants to come back.
